Pounds of Jet Fuel Required for Longest Passenger Flight: 360,700

I thought it was pretty amazing to hear about the Boeing 777 that flew 13,422 miles from Hong Kong to London. Even more amazing to me was the takeoff weight of the plane: 710,300 pounds, of which 360,700 pounds was fuel.

  1. I flew today for two hours and used 126 lbs of fuel. (9 gal/hr x 2 hrs x 7 lb/gal) and could have flown 310 statute miles, which is .40 lbs/mile.

Your Triple-7 did 27 lbs/mile. (Maybe a little difference in payload, however! LOL)
