The Teriyaki Mystery

Filed under: Default — Tags: — adam @ 10:24 pm CDT

Anyone remember a time about 15 years ago before there were any teriyaki joints? Soon after, they began popping up everywhere, and with near identical menus, flavors, and atmospheres. There had to have been some secret congress deep underground, where would-be teriyaki entrepreneurs got together to plan their delicious rampage across the nation. Why are all teriyaki restaurants so similar? Is there some unofficial franchise manifesto they all adhere to? Why do they exist at all? And why is it so damn good?

I love teriyaki.

  1. To answer the last question… People like meat, and people like sugar. Teriyaki is essentially meat dipped in sugar. QED. :)
