Slashback: IDEs, Native X/VNC, Alloy

IDEs … I’m always interesting in how people actually write code. Ask Slashdot recently spurned an interesting debate by asking asking whether or not students should be taught an intro to Python or Java course using an IDE. I kept finding my self re-agreeing with different posters.

Native X/VNCForest showed me a really neat trick using Xorg and VNC that appears to come stock with Fedora Core 4. Simple and efficient desktop sharing is fairly new for GNU/Linux, so, cool!

Alloy … A colleague of mine, Dick Wurdack, turned me on to a design analysis tool called Alloy. I’m still learning it, but it looks to be a pretty useful arrow for the quiver.
